Arsenal kit 2014/15: How Linford Christie was the fastest out of the blocks

The Arsenal shirt for the 2014/15 season was unveiled last night, at the Puma store in Carnaby Street (scroll down for the video). But former Olympic sprinter Linford Christie let us all know exactly what it was going to look like back in October. He was always the fastest out of the blocks after all...

Late last year, at promotional event for Puma, who now manufacture the kit, the former 100m champion jumped the gun, tweeting a picture of himself alongside club’s all-time record goalscorer Thierry Henry, who was wearing the kit, as well as Olivier Giroud and Bacary Sagna, who has now left the club to join Manchester City.

The picture posted by the 1992 champion sent the internet into meltdown with speculation over whether it would in fact be the the new Gunners strip.

Nine months later, it has now been confirmed that this is the shirt that the Gunners will be wearing next season.

It was at Puma's flagship store in London last night when the strip was officially unveiled, modelled by players Santi Cazorla, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini, who first posed as mannequins in the shop window.

The German sportswear giant agreed a whopping five-year, £150m deal to provide kits for Arsenal . It is the biggest kit deal in Britain, eclipsing the £25.4m-per-year deal Nike currently have with Manchester United, and beaten only by Real Madrid’s deal with adidas.
