Leigh Griffiths scored his first professional hat-trick to lead Hibernian to a 4-2 win at 10-man Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals yesterday.

"To get three at any level is great but to do it in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup is something I'll never forget," said Griffiths), after a game in which the hosts' Ross Barbour was sent off .

Dundee United won 2-1 at neighbours Dundee in yesterday's other quarter-final. Brian McLean and Gary Mackay-Steven were on target while Jim McAlister replied.

The semi-final draw will be made at Hampden Park this afternoon. Celtic and Falkirk progressed on Saturday.

Five sent off in Corsican derby

A record for the highest number of dismissals for a Ligue 1 match was set as five players were sent off in an ill-tempered Corsican derby between Bastia and Ajaccio.

Bastia won 1-0 thanks to Toifilou Maoulida's header early in the second half. The match then descended into chaos. Jérôme Rothen and Florian Thauvin saw red for the home side, while Matthieu Chalmé, Dennis Oliech and Benjamin André were sent off for Ajaccio. Rothen, Thauvin and André were ordered off after a brawl between both sets of players in stoppage time.

Elsewhere, David Beckham was a 64th minute substitute for Paris Saint-Germain but could not prevent them losing 1-0 at Reims.

Inter ready for Spurs after win

Ahead of their Europa League game at Tottenham on Thursday, Internazionale fought back from two goals down to beat Catania 3-2 in Serie A yesterday. They recovered from a horrendous first half with substitute Rodrigo Palacio scoring twice, including an injury-time winner. The pre-match build-up was centred on a training scuffle between Antonio Cassano and coach Andrea Stramaccioni during the week, and the striker was left out of the squad.
