West Ham striker Diafra Sakho had his £200,000 Lamborghini Huracan "written off" after crashing into a wall in east London on Monday night.

The incident, which happened in the Emerson Park/Hornchuch area close to Sakho's home, saw the Senegalese collide with an oncoming Mini Cooper and career into a wall at about 9pm.

The 26-year-old later posted on Snapchat and Twitter that he was unhurt: "sorry for the scare guys, im ok, thank God #life" and later "Thank you for the messages. Was involved in a small car accident this evening. Thankfully no one was hurt."

According to the Evening Standard, the owner of the £1million home into which Sakho crashed said the striker was "apologetic".

"We were inside and heard a massive thud… the whole house shook.

"My daughter recognised it was Sakho straight away. He was apologetic and said it was his fault. He just apologised really. "He wasn’t hurt. He got out of the car and was okay but the car was embedded in the wall. The chap who came to pick it up later said it was a write-off.

"The girl driving the other car was very shaken up, she was very lucky."

The car was removed from the scene within a couple of hours, although the wall remains damaged.

Twitter user Sophie Engstrom posted to Twitter and said that she had been the driver of the Mini and that it was her car.

Posting a number of pictures (above), she wrote: "Great night when Sakho drives into your house & car."

Sakho has not played since 29 Novemeber because of a thigh injury, although he is back in training and said to be close to a return. He has 17 goals in 39 matches for the Hammers.

The striker cleared of all wrongdoing last August after being arrested on suspicion of common assault, criminal damage and malicious communication towards his girlfriend.

In a statement the Metropolitan Police said: "We were made aware of a road traffic collision in Ernest Road with the junction of Nelmes Road at 10.30pm.

"This was a damage only collision, police did not attend. There were no injuries and no arrests."
