“It is hoped a new manager will be in place as soon as possible to lead the fight against potential relegation“ said a statement released on the Reading website following Brian McDermott's sacking

They've not been as quick as they would have liked, but today they appointed Nigel Adkins as his replacement.

Reading sit in 19 position, seven points behind Aston Villa (three more than when McDermott was sacked) in the safety of 17 place. With just eight games remaining, is it really possible for Adkins to save Reading’s season?
