FA charge Jack Wilshere with misconduct following his anti-Tottenham chants during Arsenal FA Cup parade

The incident happened after the open bus trophy tour

Arsenal's Jack Wilshere has been charged with misconduct in relation to last Sunday's FA Cup celebrations, when the midfielder made a series of anti-Tottenham chants.

An FA statement read: "It is alleged his conduct in making and/or inciting certain comments during the club’s open bus trophy tour was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute.

"The player has until 6pm on 10 June 2015 to respond to the charge."

Wilshere apologised for the incident earlier this week, but will still face an FA charge.

The Arsenal midfielder took the microphone during Sunday's celebrations to mock fierce rivals Spurs as the players celebrated on a stage outside the Emirates Stadium following an open-top bus parade to celebrate their FA Cup triumph from the previous day.

Some of the chanting, in front of a crowd that included many young children, included swearing.

Wilshere's actions drew a mixed response, with the chair of the Arsenal Independent Supporters' Association suggesting it showed the England international "totally understands what it is to be an Arsenal supporter"

In contrast, former Arsenal striker Niall Quinn said: "You want passion from your players, there is no doubt about that, but he has overstepped the mark once more." Others have questioned what it says about Wilshere's maturity.

Wilshere wrote in his apology: "Apologies if I upset or offended any of u with my celebrations."

It is understood that the club will take no action against him for his antics.

Wilshere did the same thing when Arsenal celebrated winning the FA Cup last year.
