Manuel Pellegrini: Manchester City manager turns down opportunity to become Brazil coach

Chilean wants to see out his three-year contract at the Etihad Stadium

Manuel Pellegrini has rejected the opportunity to become the new Brazil coach, according to reports in his native Chile.

The Manchester City manager, who won the Premier League title last season, is wanted by the World Cup hosts to replace Luiz Felipe Scolari, who left his position as Brazil coach after the tournament concluded.

Pellegrini reportedly told the Brazil FA that he wants to honour his contract at the Etihad, which runs out in 2016.

A massive overhaul of football in Brazil is expected, after their humiliating 7-1 thrashing by Germany in the semi-final exposed all of their flaws.

Pellegrini also won the League Cup with City during his impressive debut season with the club, and is currently with the City squad during their pre-season tour of Scotland.
