Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has taken to Twitter to deny that he has had any bust-up with manager Arsene Wenger, but did admit that he has yet to enter talks with the club over a contract extension.

The England international's contract with the Gunners expires in the summer of 2016, and reports surfaced this week suggesting that he is looking for a significant increase on his £90,000 a week deal, with Liverpool reportedly interested.

Wenger said last week that Walcott had been "difficult" to convince to sign a new contract back in 2013.

"We have started very early with him," said Wenger. "He is very quick on the pitch, but off the pitch not always."

"Walcott was difficult to convince [in 2013] and that is why it took us much time," said Wenger.

"I always wanted to keep him and I still want to keep him now.

"I want him to stay and be a regular player and fight for his place, but no matter where you go if it is a big club you have to compete for your place."
