Zlatan Ibrahimovich can't sell his £2.3m Malmo mansion - it's been empty for 696 days

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is struggling to sell a 13-room mansion that has not been occupied for almost two years.

Swedish newspaper Expressen report that the villa, in the exclusive Ribersborgsomradet area in the west of Malmo, has been sitting empty for 696 days.

Details are sketchy, however, with estate agents contacted by the paper withholding information having signed a confidentiality agreement with the Paris Saint-Germain striker.

What they do know is that Ibrahimovic and wife Helena Seger purchased the house for 30,000,000 Swedish Krona (£2.3m) in 2007, and set about a SEK 20m (£1.5m) renovation to transform the property.

In his autobiography Zlatan writes that he made the owners an offer they couldn't refuse for the property, well above market value:

"We’re here because you’re living in our house," he wrote. "Take it as a joke if you want, but I’m serious. I’m going to buy this house. We’ll make sure you’re happy, but we’re having it."

The mansion includes five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a large swimming pool and pool house.

There is no official guide price for the property, but estate agents expect it to fetch around SEK 30m, roughly what the mercurial striker paid for it.

Ibrahimovic has a penthouse apartment in Paris, as well as property in New York City, Milan, Miami and Stockholm. PSG travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the second leg of the Champions League last-16 on Wednesday night.
