Alan Pardew set to be confirmed as new West Brom manager in next 24 hours

Alan Pardew is set to be confirmed as West Brom manager in the next 24 hours after an 11-month spell out of work.

The 56-year-old, who has agreed to a two-and-a-half-year contract at The Hawthorns, inherits a side that has bounced back under interim manager Gary Megson following Tony Pulis’ dismissal earlier this month.

Pardew will take charge for West Brom’s next match against former club Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Englishman has been recommended by West Brom’s technical director, Nicky Hammond, with whom he played at Crystal Palace.

Megson’s future remains unclear, despite his achievements in steadying the ship after Pulis’ sacking.

West Brom currently sit 16th in the Premier League after being held to a 2-2 draw by Newcastle on Tuesday night.

The Baggies pulled two goals clear at home before Rafa Benitez’s men fought back to share the spoils.
