Arsenal fans 'hijack yet another public vote' as BBC's Premier League XI is skewed in favour of Gunners
Five Arsenal players were included in the XI
Arsenal fans have been accused of hijacking yet another public vote after five of their players were selected in a BBC Premier League XI.
Voters were asked to select a team made up of Premier League players that could take on the Fifa/Fifpro World XI named at Monday's Ballon d'Or ceremony.
The result saw five Gunners in the starting XI, with Hector Bellerin, Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in the side.
They were joined by David de Gea and Chris Smalling of Manchester United, Ross Barkley of Everton, Leicester striker Jamie Vardy and Manchester City pair Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero.
It meant there was no place for any Chelsea payers - despite them winning the Premier League title in 2015.
Some have suggested that the results indicate not that five of the best XI Premier League players are at Arsenal, but that Gooners fans are more engaged online.
It wouldn't be the first time the accusations has been made.
Jack Wilshere won the BBC's Match of the Day goal of the season public vote for the second year in succession in May for his strike against West Brom on the last day of the season, despite many arguing other contenders were more worthy.
Meanwhile the Professional Footballers' Association's Fans' Player of the Season award went to Alexis Sanchez.
Then there were the inaugural Facebook Football Awards which saw Arsenal win Club of the Year, Sanchez claim Player of the Year, Arsene Wenger win Manager of the Year and even the social media department scoop the Content of the Year gong.
