A day after appearing to rule Alexis Sanchez out of Saturday's north London derby against Tottenham, Arsene Wenger has today hinted that the Chilean could feature in the north London derby at White Hart Lane after all.

Sanchez is currently struggling with a hamstring injury.

"He wants to play, of course, he's very keen, he feels he can defy the medical people because he is so keen to play that he thinks he can get over strains," manager Arsene Wenger said.

"I don't know yet, I need medical advice on that, and I need as well to see what he can do in training."

While Sanchez only has a slim chance of playing, Danny Welbeck is back in the squad for the game having not played so far in in 2015 because of a thigh injury. The England striker is unlikely to start as he last played when scoring in the win at Upton Park on 28 December.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is another who has been ruled out of the match, though he too is back in light training.

Jack Wilshere, Abou Diaby, Mathieu Debuchy, Serge Gnabry and Mikel Arteta are long-term concerns and will definitely miss the game. Wilshere, however, is back in training next week, said Wenger

Arsenal fans should not be too concerned with the Gunners losing just one of their last 11, with five wins in a row.
