Arsene Wenger has confirmed that a quartet of Arsenal players will miss the Premier League opener against West Ham on Sunday.
Alexis Sanchez, Danny Welbeck, Tomas Rosicky and Jack Wilshere will all miss the game at the Emirates, but only Wilshere has a serious issue.
Sanchez has been given an extended break after guiding Chile to a famous victory in the Copa America over the summer.
"Sunday will come too early but in 10 days he should be alright," Wenger said at his pre-match press conference.
Both Welbeck and Rosicky should return soon, but Wilshere could be out for up to two months after suffering a hairline fracture in his right ankle at training last week.
Arsenal injury news and suspensions
Show all 6"Jack is of course down but the good news yesterday helped him to cope with it," said Wenger after it was initially feared he faced up to two months on the sidelines.
"He just needs time to heal. The news we got yesterday was that it could be much shorter than expected because he's two weeks in a boot and then maybe after that he can practice straight away again.
"When you play football you never get used to your body letting you down, but the positive thing in this injury is that it's not a recurrence of one of his former injuries."
