Aaron Ramsey has admitted that he does not know how long it has been since his last goal for Arsenal.

The midfielder has yet to score for either his club or country this season despite making 12 apperances and will hope to break his duck against Manchester United at the Emirates this weekend.

"I don’t know how long it’s been since my last goal," he said. "I just know I haven’t got off the mark yet this season, which I’m disappointed with."

His most recent goal for the Gunners came in May, at the tail end of last season, against soon-to-be-relegated Hull City in the Premier League.

Such form in front of goal is a far cry from two seasons ago, when the Welshman was finding the net with regularity and had registered eight goals by the end of September.

Ramsey does not, however, have to look far for inspiration. Arsenal's mercurial forward Alexis Sanchez notched his first goal of the season against Leicester City last weekend and went on to add a two more in a 5-2 victory.

"It’s nice to see Alexis scoring again,” Ramsey said. “You could see his frustration before that and how much he wanted to score. It wasn’t just him. There are a few other players – myself included – who are a bit frustrated not to get a goal, but I’m delighted for him that he’s finally got off the mark."

"As soon as the first one goes in [for Sanchez], two more fly in straight away! Hopefully now he’s in a good place where he can just go from strength to strength.

"That’s how it goes," he added. "You get frustrated and then all of a sudden a few games down the line one comes and the next thing you know you’re scoring on a regular basis again. Hopefully I can be there soon as well."

Arsenal will go level on points with Louis van Gaal's league leaders if they beat them on Sunday and will be desperate to recover from their shambolic 3-2 defeat to Olympiakos in mid-week.
