Arsenal warned that Norwich will 'fight like dogs' on Saturday

Winger Elliott Bennett has warned that Norwich will 'fight like dogs' as they look to kick-start their Barclays Premier League campaign against Arsenal on Saturday.

The Canaries have yet to win in seven league games under new manager Chris Hughton, and have the worst goal difference in the division.

Many pundits have already written off Norwich's hopes of maintaining their status in the top flight once again following the departure of former manager Paul Lambert.

Bennett, though, maintains the Canaries will just use those negatives to spur them on.

"People did not think we would stay up last season, but we did. The more people go against this team, the better we seem to be," he said.

"We will come out fighting - like a dog, you back us into a corner, we will always bite our way out of it.

"If people keep doing that, then brilliant because we will hopefully prove them wrong, like we did last year."

Despite their poor run of form, and being on the end of a couple of hefty defeats, morale within the group remains positive.

"We have a great belief and togetherness in the squad, hopefully we can start to put that into three points," said Bennett, who has just returned from an injury lay-off.

"We have had a few games which we deserved to win, but that did not happen.

"It is never nice to lose, and you are really disappointed, but you have to clear it out of your mind.

"There are always hard times, like we are going through at the minute.

"We know it has not been good enough, but are all working hard on the training ground."

Defender Russell Martin has been away on international duty with Scotland and the 26-year-old is likely to be in for a tough time this weekend as Arsenal look to maintain their form from before the international break.

The Gunners have lost just once so far this season, while Norwich have shipped some 17 goals in just seven games - leaking five twice and being thumped 4-1 at Chelsea after taking an early lead - but Martin insists "nothing much needs to change really".

He said: "It is just the little things at the minute which are costing us, and it was the same last season.

"Now, because they have all come in succession, it probably looks worse than it is.

"We have watched all of the videos and fundamentally it is not too big a problem."

Norwich hope to have forward Robert Snodgrass available after he returned from international duty with Scotland because of an ankle problem.

Defender Steven Whittaker has returned to full training after his pre-season ankle problem, but is not yet being considered for a first-team return.
