In Brief: Jones could be out for rest of season
The Blackburn defender Phil Jones underwent surgery to repair torn cartilage in his right knee yesterday afternoon, the club have confirmed.
Jones came on as a substitute during Rovers' 1-1 draw with West Ham at Ewood Park on Saturday but lasted only 10 minutes before hobbling off after falling awkwardly in a challenge with Carlton Cole.
The 18-year-old had a scan on the knee on Sunday and it is feared he may be sidelined for the rest of the season.
Blackburn's club doctor, Phil Batty, said: "Phil has torn his lateral meniscus (cartilage), but there is no other damage in the knee."
