Everton travel to Brighton on Sunday looking to kick start their Premier League season with Ronald Koeman hoping the international break will have given his stars the chance to regroup.

The Toffees only have seven points from seven games this season and languish just the one place above the drop zone, with pressure really starting to mount.

Brighton are in a slightly better position than Sunday’s opponents but are equally in need of the points to avoid an end of season relegation scrap.

What time does it start?

The game kicks off at 1.30pm BST on Sunday 15 October at the Amex Stadium.

Where can I watch it?

The game will not be shown live in the UK but highlights will be available on Match of the Day two on BBC1 at 10.30pm. Alternatively, you can follow the action on The Independent’s live blog above.

It’s a big game for…

Ronald Koeman. The Everton boss is under increasing pressure after a poor start to the season sees the club sitting just outside the relegation zone with seven points from seven games so far. Anything other than a win against Brighton will be seen as yet more points dropped for a club with lofty aspirations at the other end of the table.

Player to watch…

Anthony Knockaert. The winger was the Championship player of the season last year and is the one Brighton look to for inspiration and drive. He has yet to light up the Premier League in that manner but against a nervous and out-of-form Everton side, he could seize the opportunity to strike.

Form…

Brighton: DWLLWL

Everton: LLWWDL

Odds…

Brighton: 12/5

Everton: 31/20

Draw: 9/4

Did you know?

This is the first time Everton and Brighton have faced each other in over 30 years.

The last meeting between the two sides, back in April 1983, ended in a 2-1 victory for the Toffees at The Goldstone, Brighton's old stadium.

What has Brighton boss Chris Hughton been saying about Everton's poor form this week?

"Any team, particularly a top team that have spent well, there is always pressure on managers. But he [Ronald Koeman] is an outstanding manager and is big enough to cope with any pressure coming his way.

"Is it a good time to play them? No. You have to look at the team and the players you are playing against.

"They've played four of the big teams in seven games and probably not started as they would have liked to.

"But with all good players and good teams they will turn it around - so if anything I look at it the other way round."

Everton manager Koeman responds to Dutch reports

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has been linked with the Netherlands managerial job this week following their failure to qualify for the World Cup.

However, the former Southampton boss insists his full focus is on turning the Toffees' season around.

"No. I'm not surprised that they [the Dutch media] put my name in because they did the same some years ago," Koeman said in the week.

"But I'm Everton manager and that's the important thing and nothing else.

"The future is not realistic now. We have other business to do at Everton. We need to win and we need to change our situation and our position in the table and that starts on Sunday. That's the priority for me for the long term."

9' - Everton's Vlasic skips past a couple of Brighton defenders on the edge of the penalty area but the Seagulls are defending in numbers and manage to snuff out the attack. These first 10 minutes have been all Everton.

This is a worrying stat if you're an Everton fan:

12' - Calvert-Lewin leads a counter-attack for Everton, skipping away from Brighton's Dunk before dropping the ball off to Rooney. The former Manchester United man looks for Sigurdsson on the edge of the box and the Iceland international's volley is deflected behind. Ronald Koeman's men are continuing to probe here.
