Cesc Fabregas’ late penalty denied West Ham United a top-four place and their first win at Chelsea in 14 years.
The Spain international converted from the spot in the 89th minute after referee Bobby Madley had penalised Michail Antonio for tripping Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the box.
Manuel Lanzini had given the visitors an early lead with a brilliant curving shot from outside the box, only for Fabregas to equalise on the stroke of half-time with a superb free-kick.
Andy Carroll, who came on as a second-half substitute for Diafra Sakho, restored the Hammers’ lead after only a minute on the field.
However, the late penalty, Fabregas’ second leveller of the game, meant Slaven Bilic’s side had to settle for a point.
West Ham would have moved into the top-four had they won, thereby boosting their hopes of Champions League qualification.

Chelsea vs West Ham ratingsShow all 23 1 /23Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Thibaut Courtois - 5 out of 10 Was helpless to keep out Lanzini's dipping shot, but will feel disappointed not to have kept out Carroll's goal.
Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Branislav Ivanovic - 4 out of 10 He capitalised on some wayward passing from Payet to create some dangerous runs forward. However, he disappointed when he undid his hard work by failing to stop Carroll from running free and scoring the winner.
Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Gary Cahill - 5 out of 10 Cahill looked better back alongside Terry, but had a mixed game with some good stops in some instances, and some sloppy ones.

Chelsea vs West Ham ratings John Terry - 6 out of 10 The Chelsea captain returned to the starting line-up and in his 701st Chelsea appearance, he brought much-needed leadership at the back. Defended well at set pieces and had a few good chances at goal, too.

Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Cesar Azpilicueta - 6 out of 10 The Spaniard kept Valencia relatively quiet and he protected his flank well.
Chelsea vs West Ham ratings John Obi Mikel - 5 out of 10 Struggled to deal with the pace of Payet, Lanzini and Sakho and found himself chasing shadows for much of the game.
Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Cesc Fabregas - 8 out of 10 Scored a fine free kick on the stroke of half time after setting up his teammates several times in the game and then capped off a great game with a well-taken penalty.

Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Oscar - 6 out of 10 The Brazilian won the free kick which Fabregas netted, but should have converted the chances that fell his way. A better performance from Oscar, however.
Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Kenedy - 5 out of 10 Was shifted further forward to the left side of midfield, and the Brazilian added pace to Chelsea's attack. Came off at half-time with injury.
Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Loic Remy - 5 out of 10 Making his first league start since September, the striker had a few good chances at goal. He looked rusty, but showed a desire to make an impact despite his lack of game time this season.
Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Adrian - 7 out of 10 Shouldn't take the blame for Fabregas' fine free kick, and impressed - as he did in 2014 in the same fixture - with several fine stops although he couldn’t keep out Fabregas’ late penalty.
Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Michail Antonio - 5 out of 10 Deployed at right-back, the 25-year-old worked hard for his team defensively and in attack. But he gave away the penalty with his foul on Loftus-Cheek.

Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Winston Reid - 5 out of 10 Failed to adequately clear the ball from Oscar's path, which gave away the free kick from which Fabregas equalised, but made up for it later. Could have given away a penalty for a handball in the second half, though.
Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Angelo Ogbonna - 7 out of 10 Was solid in defence and made several key blocks and clearances to deny Chelsea.
Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Aaron Cresswell - 7 out of 10 Was dependable in defence and contained Willian well while showing his attacking intent by nearly setting up Payet for a goal and nearly scoring himself.
Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Mark Noble - 6 out of 10 Did well to protect West Ham’s defence.

Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Enner Valencia - 6 out of 10 Was involved in several of West Ham's best attacks and tracked back and defended well, particularly against Azpilicueta just before the break.
Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Diafra Sakho - 6 out of 10 Showed a greater desire for the ball in the build-up to Lanzini's goal and pressurised Chelsea's defence well. Replaced with Carroll in the second period.
Chelsea vs West Ham ratings Andy Carroll - 8 out of 10 Replaced Sakho on the hour mark and made an instant impact - getting free of Ivanovic and driving a low effort past Courtois. Could have had another but drove wide. An inspired change.
