50 mins: Roberto Soldado opens his account for Spurs just after half-time from the penalty spot after Dean Moxey handled Aaron Lennon’s cross in the area. The Spaniard sent Julian Speroni the wrong way from 12 yards to put the visitors ahead.

Palace, who have never survived a Premier League season, named loan signing Marouane Chamakh was named on the bench for the visit of Tottenham Hotspur along with defender Florian Marange and midfielder Jose Campana.

In the opposing dugout, Andre Villas-Boas named three new signings in his starting eleven as the Portuguese manager began his first ever second campaign as a manager.

Midfielder Paulinho was selected in a new-look midfield alongside £7million signing Nacer Chadli, while Spanish striker Soldado started up front.

Midfielder Etienne Capoue, who joined Spurs just this week, was named on the bench.
