Edurne Garcia, the singer and partner of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, has signalled that she might be warming to her adopted city.

Garcia recently made headlines following an interview on light entertainment show El Hormiguero in which indicated she didn't think much of Manchester.

Host Pablo Motos asked her: "I've been told Manchester is uglier than the back of a fridge."

Rather than defend the city, Garcia agreed.

"It's not very nice, that's for sure. You have to hunt out specific places, the nice places," said Spain's Eurovision Song Contest entrant.

"But even then Spain is nicer. The reason I like it is because David's there. With him being there, everything looks wonderful."

Following the comments city centre chief Pat Karney has offered to take Garcia on a tour of the city.

"I’m not sure how much of the city Miss Garcia has seen, but we’d be delighted to take the couple on a tour and show them what they’re missing," Karney told the Manchester Evening News.

Whether Garcia takes up the offer remains to be seen, but her Twitter feed appears to indicate she may already be coming round after she uded the hashtag #gloryglorymanunited during United's win over Tottenham yesterday.

The win for United kept them in control of their top-four hopes and moved them just two points behind city rivals Manchester City.
