Diego Costa has been banned for three matches by the Football Association for volent conduct.
Costa had initially escaped with only a yellow card after clashing with Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel Paulista at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, during Chelsea's 2-0 win over Arsenal.
The FA had earlier confirmed that Arsenal had been successful in their appeal for Gabriel's three-game ban to be withdrawn.
Costa will be suspended for matches against Walsall in the League Cup and Premier League clashes at Newcastle and at home to Southampton.
The FA statement read : "An FA charge against Diego Costa for violent conduct not seen by the match officials but caught on video has been found proven following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.
"The Chelsea forward will, therefore, serve the standard penalty of a three-match suspension with immediate effect."
