Diego Costa is never far from controversy, and so it was at Vicarage Road.

In a cagey first half between Watford and Chelsea, the Spanish striker was again at the centre of things - good and bad.

Costa, whose form has improved massively since Guus Hiddink took over, had the best chance of a goalless first half.

But the man with the shortest fuse in the Premier League is never far from exploding and so it was on Wednesday night.

Thirty yards away from the ball as Chelsea took a throw-in, Costa clashed with Watford right-back Juan Carlos Paredes.

The Ecuadorian appeared to throw himself to the floor, imitating that the striker had thrown an elbow, before Costa got his revenge by charging into him moments later, then tussling with Etienne Capoue.

Referee Mike Dean took a while to sort out the row - as Watford fans cried out for a red card - before showing Costa a yellow.

Social media was quickly abuzz, with Costa becoming a top trend on Twitter.
