Everton vs West Brom preview: Aaron Lennon hoping to maintain impressive form against Baggies

A look ahead to the Premier League fixture at Goodison Park

It’s a big game for…

Viktor Anichebe

Berahino played the full 120 minutes against Posh on Wednesday and in the face of very on-form opponents, Anichebe looks most probable to start. The Nigerian international has only made 9 appearances this season, and is yet to score. He almost certainly has a point to prove against his former club if he is to become a real contender for a more regular starting position.

Weird stat…

34%: Everton only managed a minimal possession percentage of 34 in their last game, still managing to win 3-0 however. Everton have in fact scored three goals in four of their last six games, a worrying sign for West Brom’s defence. Unless Tony Pulis’ side can remain tight at the back and limit Everton’s shooting opportunities, they may be in for a rough ride away from home.

Remember when…

Aaron Lennon plucked a goal from nowhere with a neat turn against Newcastle at the beginning of February. West Brom will need to make sure they do not allow him the space in the final third.

Player to watch…

Aaron Lennon

Lennon has undoubtedly been an important factor in Everton’s recent turnaround in form. He scored in all of Everton’s last three successive wins and seems to be bringing energy and attacking vigour to the team. It seems unlikely that manager Martinez will change a winning formula, unless he believes the Baggies’ injury crises to be an opportunity to rotate players without dropping points.
