Fiorentina hope to capitalise on Queens Park Rangers' struggle to avoid relegation by making a £5.6million bid for midfielder Esteban Granero next month.

The 25-year-old was one of QPR's marquee signings last summer and is believed to have a £5.5m release clause which can be triggered if Rangers are relegated this season.

With QPR bottom of the Premier League, Fiorentina are now planning to test Rangers' resolve even though Granero has struggled to make an impact in England.

Granero joined in a deal worth up to £9m from Real Madrid and is one of the highest earners at the club after agreeing a four-year contract.

Coach Harry Redknapp has been told he may have to sell players if he wants to buy in January.

Redknapp has been in charge for just three games since replacing Mark Hughes as coach but significantly dropped Granero to the bench for the 2-2 draw at Wigan last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Stephane Mbia will keep treating fans after giving one young QPR supporter his shirt at the end of the Wigan match.

"As a youngster I never expected a player to give me their shirt after a game, but why not? I will do this after every game because it is how I am," said the midfielder.

"I am a simple and humble person. It is very important that we all remember where we came from."
