Swansea City manager Garry Monk continues to cling onto his job with speculation suggesting his relationship with some players has become strained.

Huw Jenkins, the Swans chairman, has been in London this week as he receives an OBE from the Queen meaning he has been unable to meet Monk in person since Monday morning.

The 52-year-old did answer questions later that day, however, saying ‘something needs to change’ at the Welsh club as they plummet towards the Premier League relegation zone.

According to Sky Sports News, Monk remains in the dark about his future and is taking training as usual despite the public debate surrounding the crisis-hit outfit.

The report suggests the Swansea manager, who led them to their highest-ever top flight points tally last season, has endured strained relations with captain Ashley Williams and Jonjo Shelvey.

The Swans lost 3-0 to Leicester City on Saturday afternoon as Riyad Mahrez scored a hat-trick at the Liberty Stadium.

Pep Clotet, Monk’s assistant manager, is likely to be in the running for the post after reportedly turning down the vacant position at Brentford last week.
