The United faithful's frustration is reaching boiling point, it seems

It has been a painful season of new lows and devastation for David Moyes in his first term as United manager, and last night the frustration from the United faithful came to the boil after the comprehensive 3-0 defeat by neighbours Manchester City at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, with the hashtag #MoyesOut even trending on Twitter.

First supporters directed their anger at Sir Alex Ferguson, the former manager who anointed Moyes as his successor while he sat in the director's box, and stewards were also positioned to guard the "Chosen One" banner hung on the Stretford End in support of Moyes.

It has been a season of woe for Moyes, with the club languishing in seventh place with 26 points fewer than they had at this stage last season and no chance of retaining their Premier League title. The were also knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round, out of the League Cup in the semi-final and will face the German champions Bayern Munich in the next round of the Champions League next week.

The defeat by City was United's 10th league loss of the season, their highest amount of defeats in a league season since 1989/90 in the old Division One, when they lost 14.

The manager has come under fierce criticism of his reign from fans on the social networking site, and it looks like they have lost patience, with the hashtag #MoyesOut trending this morning.
