'I feel sorry for Chelsea fans': Marco Materazzi reignites Rafael Benitez feud

Chelsea manager is targeted again by former player

Marco Materazzi has continued his feud with Chelsea's interim manager, Rafael Benitez, by saying that he feels sorry for the club's supporters.

Benitez has been under pressure at Chelsea following a run of poor results and Materazzi, who played under the Spaniard at Internazionale, added to the manager's headaches by claiming he "could not be trusted" and was "weak".

"If I was president of a club, I would not trust him with my team," Materazzi said last week. That led Benitez to call Materazzi "a liar" 10 times during an extraordinary outburst late last week.

"So I'm a liar?" Materazzi responded yesterday on Italian TV. "He's thin then, so that gives reason to call me a liar. It pains me to say good luck to Chelsea but I will anyway, I feel sorry for their fans."

Meanwhile, Galatasaray have announced they have reached an agreement to sign Didier Drogba. The former Chelsea striker will join the Turkish team from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua on an 18-month deal.

Drogba's capture by Galatasaray comes hot on the heels of the arrival last week of Netherlands midfielder Wesley Sneijder from Internazionale. Drogba said: "The opportunity to play for this great club was an offer that I could not turn down."
