Chelsea captain John Terry says Guus Hiddink has 'picked everyone up' since Jose Mourinho's departure

Guus Hiddink has "picked everyone up" since being drafted in at Chelsea following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho, according to John Terry.

Results confirm the Chelsea captain's analysis, with a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace extending the Dutchman's unbeaten start as the club's interim manager to three games.

Goals from Oscar, Diego Costa and Willian were scored in an assured performance at Selhurst Park that moves the club six points away from the relegation zone and 10 points behind fifth place Manchester United.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Terry praised the effect Hiddink has had.

"Guus has been great since he's come in. It's unfortunate what's happened, we feel we've let everyone down, but the new man's come in like he did last time and picked everyone up.

"We are where we are, but we're slowly climbing the league table. We've known as a group we had to get better, we've done that slowly but surely."

He added: "It was the Chelsea of last year, the football was first-class and we kept the ball in tough conditions.

"The overall performance, as well as the goals, was different class. New year, new start.

"We have to keep winning games. We've had a couple of draws of late and been unlucky not to win more points, we're delighted with three today."

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew was complimentary of the visitors to south east London: "Chelsea were good today, very good.

"The first 25 minutes was our best period, we had belief about us, but we're lacking a bit of quality at the top of the pitch at the moment and that was evident.

"When you've got a very, very good team and they take the lead, their confidence gets up. Fabregas ran the show in the second half, we couldn't get near him."
