Leicester City issue fans with bans after tickets emerge online for £15,000

Top of the Premier League with a seven-point cushion, with just five matches remaining, the East Midlands club are on the precipice of a first top-flight title in their 132-year history

Leicester City have handed “a small number” of season ticket holders and members with multi-year bans after tickets for the final home match of the season were offered online for £15,000.

Top of the Premier League with a seven-point cushion, before a nerve-shredding five match run-in, the East Midlands club are edging towards a first top-flight title in their 132-year history.

Everton travel to the King Power Stadium on the penultimate weekend of the season, Leicester’s final home match; a fixture which sold out after 90 minutes on sale to members.

Tickets which are usually priced between £24 and £48 have since become available on an online resale website for four digit – and in some cases – five digit sums.

Touts have also become a more regular feature outside the 32,262 capacity stadium with fans scrambling to witness possibly one of the greatest sporting achievements in living memory.

Should Leicester secure the maximum three victories required to be crowned champions, the 7 May meeting with Everton will see the Foxes presented with the trophy despite being 5000-1 outsiders back in August.

A statement on the official website said: “The club has a duty of care to its supporters and is working diligently to prevent ticket touting, while also encouraging all fans to report any such activity.

“As a result, a small number of season ticket holders and members have this week received multi-year bans, preventing them attending Leicester City games or purchasing tickets to any Leicester City fixture, as well as having their own season tickets and memberships cancelled without compensation.”
