Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has revealed that his Foxes players ate ostrich burgers ahead of the 3-0 victory over Newcastle United.

The 51-year-old ruffled a few feathers when he called reporter Ian Baker an 'ostrich' before accusing him of 'burying his head in the sand' over criticism of his players.

Pearson has since apologised for the comments and revealed that his players have since been teasing him about the episode.

Staff at the club’s training ground canteen saw the funny side with a special one-off menu ahead of the weekend six-pointer - which Leicester won comfortably.

When asked if the saga has been discussed behind the scenes, Pearson chuckled: “What, apart from having ostrich burgers at the training ground?

“There’s been a bit of banter. You have to be able to laugh at yourself - and allow other people to do that.”

The Foxes, who have won five out of their last six Premier League matches, face Southampton at the King Power Stadium this weekend in another huge clash for the East Midlands outfit.

Following the visit of Ronald Koeman's Saints, Leicester then travel to Sunderland before a final day clash with Queens Park Rangers.
