Leicester vs Chelsea: It'll either be the start of our season, for the fourth time, or a signal for change

At the start of the season, all Leicester fans would have been looking worryingly at this fixture. But now, with Chelsea’s woeful form, and us sitting top of the table, we are all relishing the game.

After Vardy’s record-breaking goal scoring streak came to an end, it was time for our other star of the season, Riyad Mahrez, to take centre stage and his hat-trick at the Liberty Stadium was a joy to behold. The game also highlighted the fantastic form of N’Golo Kanté this season, who had previously gone under the radar. We will need another performance like that from the team if we are to come out on top against Chelsea. Another clean sheet, also, shows that we are heading in the right direction, defensively.

And that defensive stability will be crucial again on Monday night. Still looking weak at defending set pieces, Leicester will need to be wary, with Chelsea’s height and power in the air. However, if they play like they did against Swansea, they should come out on top. It’s going to be a tough game, but Leicester should win 2-1.

When Chelsea travelled away to Leicester City in April it was to put them within one game of winning the title. Now - just eight months on - we are struggling in 14th while Leicester sit top of the league. Roles really have been reversed.

Any thoughts of Chelsea finally finding their feet again were put on the back burner after last week’s defeat to Bournemouth. But a midweek Champions League success against Porto to qualify for the last-16 has renewed some hope. Not everything is rosy though. Diego Costa’s head still appears to drop the moment something does not go his way.

With an almost fully fit side to choose from this could either be the start of our season - for the fourth time - or another signal that maybe change should come. Leicester are not top of the league by accident and they will believe they can beat the us But I’m going for an optimistic 2-1 Chelsea win.
