Sportswear manufacturer New Balance appeared to mistakenly leak the new Liverpool home kit overnight.

The American firm took over from Warrior as the club's kit supplier at the start of this season in a record-breaking deal.

However, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the New Balance website featured images of the new kit.

The images were swiftly removed.

The new kit, which appears all but confirmed, features gold trim for the first time since 2013-14 when Luis Suarez fired Brendan Rodgers' side to second in the Premier League.

Images on the site featured club captain Jordan Henderson, vice-captain James Milner and Emre Can in the red strip, with goalkeeper Simon Mignolet in green.

The strip also features a one-button, round-neck collar, while previous leaks have shown a darker tone of red horizontal stripes - although that wasn't really visible on the New Balance website.

There is also likely to be a small tribute to the 96 supporters who died in the Hillsborough tragedy.
