Manchester City could be set for a huge shake-up in the summer with the future of 13 first-team players under threat, according to reports.

We reported this morning that Manuel Pellegrini's job could be saved because of a lack of managerial options out there.

But that doesn't mean that the City hierarchy are not planning drastic change after a season of disappointment that saw City drop out of the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup early as well as lose huge ground to Chelsea in the title race.

According to the Guardian, City could get rid of up to 13 players this summer, while the jobs of chief executive Ferran Soriano and sporting director Txiki Begiristain are also under threat.

Since the arrival of Pellegrini two years ago, only a couple of their signings - totalling more than £100million - can be viewed as successful.

Eliaquim Mangala, bought for a whopping £42m in the summer, has struggled to beat Martin Demichelis to the starting job, while the likes of Stevan Jovetic (£22m), Alvaro Negrego (£20m) and Fernando (£12m) have also been unsuccessful given their huge outlay.

Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri headline a group of up to 13 players whose future at the club is under threat. In fact, of the current first-team only Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany, David Silva, Fernandinho, Wilfried Bony and Sergio Aguero can expect a future at the club.
