Manchester City transfer news: Bersant Celina heading to FC Twente on loan
19-year-old Kosovan midfielder will spend this season in Holland after a deal was reached with the Eredivisie club
Bersant Celina will join FC Twente from Manchester City on a season-long loan.
The 19-year-old Kosovo international has agreed a deal with the Eredivisie club after weeks of negotiations surrounding his future, and serious interest from Championship club Sheffield Wednesday.
Celina has been involved in pre-season with Pep Guardiola, and went on City’s pre-season tour of China. The club decided that he would be best served going out on loan this season. Brandon Barker and David Faupala both signed for NAC Breda for this season, and Holland was the chosen destination for Celina too.
Talks for a move to Twente collapsed last week due to the Dutch club’s unwillingness to meet his £12,000 per week salary until they had sold players.
This week, though, Twente came back for Celina and reached a deal with Manchester City. Celina has four years left on the contract he signed at City in May this year.
