Zlatan Ibrahimovic threatened to break Mino Raiola’s legs if he failed to oversee Paul Pogba’s £89m transfer to Manchester United.

It took weeks of back and forth before the Frenchman signed for United last August, during which both Raiola and Pogba kept fans guessing with a number of subtle hints on social media.

The hype appeared to get too much for the imposing Swede, who has a black-belt in taekwondo, after he confronted Raiola with regards to Pogba’s transfer.

Speaking with Dutch outlet de Volkskrant, Raiola claimed that Ibrahimovic had told him: “Don’t transfer Pogba elsewhere or I’ll break your legs.”

Prior to Pogba’s record-breaking transfer, the two players spent time together in Los Angeles during their post-Euro 2016 break.

It was suggested that the Swede had sought to persuade the former Juventus start to make the switch to United.

Off the pitch, the pair have since gone on to develop a budding relationship at United.

Last month Pogba did his best impression of the big Swede – much to the delight of Thierry Henry who was interviewing the France international.

On the pitch, Ibrahimovic has enjoyed a stronger start to the season but Pogba finally proved his worth with an excellent performance against Leicester in United’s 4-1 victory over the champions.

The Frenchman revelled in a 4-3-3 formation without captain Wayne Rooney in the mix.

Ahead of the game, Raiola reiterated that Pogba’s favourite position is in an advanced midfield role on the left.

"Pogba still has to find his place in the team," Raiola added. "My preferred position for him is left attacking midfielder.

"With his power, stamina and technique... Pogba would be unplayable in that role. But Mourinho takes the decisions."
