Supporters heading to Old Trafford for Manchester United's match against Aston Villa have been advised to allow extra time for their journey.

An overturned lorry in the area has caused the closure of Chester Road, at the junction with Barton Road, and police have put diversions in place.

Greater Manchester Police said motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible and urged fans to leave in good time for the 12.45pm kick-off, and consider alternative routes if possible.

The incident is close to Junction 7 on the M60 and is also having an effect on motorway traffic.
