Manchester United vs Manchester City: Zlatan Ibrahimovic reveals he misses his Paris Saint-Germain salary

The former Sweden captain is preparing for his first taste of the Manchester derby on Saturday

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed the only thing he misses about Paris Saint-Germain since his move to Manchester United this summer is his salary.

The former Sweden captain left the French capital on a free at the end of last season after four years at the Parc des Princes where he scored 149 goals in 157 games for the Ligue 1 champions.

And he has looked like he could maintain that scoring rate in the Premier League after already managing three goals in his first three games, as well as bagging the winner in the Community Shield final against Leicester City.

United have taken maximum points in that time but it is not enough to stop Ibrahimovic missing one thing about his Parisian lifestyle.

“I miss my last salary from Paris. That is what I miss,” he told French outlet SFR Sport.

The United forward is understood to be earning £250,000-a-week at the Old Trafford club, suggesting he took a pay cut to join Jose Mourinho at United.

The pair are preparing for the biggest match of the season so far as rivals Manchester City travel to Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.

Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola renewing their fierce rivalry is one of the headline battles but Ibrahimovic also has previous with the new City boss, describing him as ‘a spineless coward’ in his autobiography after spending a season under him at Barcelona.

However, the 34-year-old insists he is completely focused on the game and is refusing to get carried away with the occasion.

“These games always mean so much to the fans and we want to win for them, but the players must always be focused,” he said.

“Every game must be looked at as an opportunity to win three points whoever the opposition.”
