Mancini and Moyes wait to learn fate

Manchester City and Everton managers Roberto Mancini and David Moyes could find out later today whether they will face further action for their touchline bust-up last night.

The Football Association are awaiting referee Peter Walton's report from the Toffees' 2-0 win at Eastlands in which both bosses were sent to the dressing rooms.

In injury time Mancini took exception to Moyes picking up the ball, an action the Italian interpreted as time-wasting, and the pair had to be separated by fourth official Howard Webb before Walton's intervention.

Both managers played down the incident, with Mancini saying: "I have spoken with David and if I made a mistake I am sorry.

"I wanted to get the ball because there was another five minutes at the end. This can happen in a game but it is finished now."

Moyes added after the match: "I was very surprised, I didn't know what I had done wrong.

"Maybe I held onto the ball a second or two longer than I should have done but I was trying to make a substitution."

The FA are also awaiting official Lee Mason's report from Portsmouth's 5-0 home defeat to Chelsea before making a decision on Daniel Sturridge's challenge on Tommy Smith.

Smith had his nose broken by the young Chelsea striker, who appeared to catch his opponent with an elbow, but Mason took no action at the time.
