Marcos Rojo injury: Manchester United defender 'ruled out for weeks' with serious shoulder injury

Manchester United have been hit with a major blow with reports that Marcos Rojo will be sidelined "for weeks" after suffering a serious shoulder injury in training.

The Daily Mirror have reported that the Argentinian defender picked up the injury in training yesterday, and was immediately sent for a scan, amid fears it could be a repeat of the dislocation he suffered against Manchester City at Old Trafford in November last year.

In the Manchester derby in November 2014, which City won 1-0, Rojo was forced off in the 56th minute and needed oxygen to control the pain. He was out for almost a month on that occasion but didn't have surgery.

Rojo, 25, has had an extended run in the side this season after Luke Shaw suffered a double leg-break in the 2-1 Champions League defeat at PSV Eindhoven in September.

United manager Louis van Gaal is likely to discuss the extent of Rojo's injury at his weekly media briefing on Friday.
