Michael Owen is not known for his commentary prowess, but he endured what can only be described as a bit of a meltdown during BT Sport’s ‘Fletch and Sav’ on Saturday morning.

The show was broadcast live from Stoke’s Britannia Stadium ahead of their Premier League victory over Manchester City, where the subject up for discussion was Gary Neville’s surprise appointment as Valencia manager in mid-week.

Owen played alongside Neville at United for two years before the defender retired, and he was asked for his opinion on whether the move would prove to be a risk for the former England international.

But Owen just couldn’t get his words out. The former striker stuttered a series of “la la la la la” before saying the letter “p” repeatedly, and no one has any idea what he was trying to say.

Watch the video below…

Suddenly, something pops into Owen’s head and he turns almost triumphantly towards the presenters, and states “the manager”.

Yes Michael, that’s exactly what we were all thinking.
