The Norwich City manager, Chris Hughton, does not believe his side's 38-point total is enough to secure their top-flight future, but their destiny is in their own hands – particularly as next opponents Stoke and Villa are beneath them in the table.

"How it will end up in the end, numbers wise, I don't know, but at the moment this feels like a big win for us," Hughton said after the 2-1 home win over Reading, who themselves will be relegated tonight if Aston Villa win at Manchester United.

"I think it will take more points. I've always thought around that 40-mark and I think there are teams around us that are still very capable of winning games."
