Pep Guardiola alerts Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea by confirming he wants Premier League job

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that he did not extend his contract with Bayern Munich because he wants to manage in the Premier League.

The former Barcelona head coach has been heavily linked with the Manchester City job, but rivals Manchester United as well as Arsenal and Chelsea have also been suggested as potential destinations for the 44-year-old.

"I want to coach in Premier League. That is the reason I did not prolong my contract," Guardiola told a news conference on Tuesday.

“I need a new challenge and would like to take the opportunity to be a coach in England," he added. “I want to experience the atmosphere there. I’m 44, it’s the right moment to go there. I want new stadiums, cities and restaurants to know."

The Spaniard, who has won three La Liga titles, two Bundesliga titles and two Champions Leagues during his time in management, did not reveal any preferences regarding clubs he would like to manage, only saying he has several offers to consider.

"There are offers, but I haven’t signed anything yet," he said. "If I have a new club, they’ll communicate it.”

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern’s chief executive, confirmed last month that Guardiola would be leaving the club upon the expiration of his current contract this summer.

"We are grateful to Pep Guardiola for everything he has given our club since 2013,” he said at the time.

"I am convinced that Pep and our team will now work even more intensively towards achieving our major sporting goals - especially as it is now confirmed that Pep is to leave FC Bayern."

Last month, Bayern confirmed Carlo Ancelotti's appointment as Guardiola's successor, effective from the 2016/17 season.
