Manchester City have confirmed that Pep Guardiola will succeed Manuel Pellegrini as manager from the end of the season, with reports that the Spaniard could be paraded during a summer tour of China.

The club revealed today that Guardiola has agreed a three-year deal with the club - bringing an end to speculation over who he would join following his announcement last year that he was leaving Bayern Munich.

Manchester City are understood to be planning to visit China as part of the £265m deal which saw China Media Capital purchase a 13 per cent stakein the club last month. According to the Daily Mirror, Guardiola is central to their strategy to break into the Asian market.

As a sign of Manchester City's focus on the Chinese market, the club recently started offering tours of their Etihad Stadium in Mandarin.

Despite today's announcement, the club will be keen for the news not to distract from their current season in which winning an unprecedented quadruple remains a possibility. The club are three points from the top of the Premier League, in the final of the Capital One Cup, face Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA Cup and take on Dynamo Kiev in the last-16 of the Champions League.
