Former Manchester United manager says the incoming coach could struggle to adapt to the Premier League

Pep Guardiola "won't find it easy" in the Premier League, former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has warned.

Guardiola will take over at Manchester City this summer after trophy laden spells with most recently Bayern Munich and before that Barcelona.

There will be an expectation on the Spaniard to continue collecting silverware when he is at the Etihad, but Ferguson says expectations should be cautious.

"Without question Pep has got a fantastic work ethic about him. He has got great coaching ability, there is no doubt about that. Man City have made a real coup in getting him," the 13-time Premier League champion said.

"But Pep won't find it easy, English football is not easy. Every foreign coach that has come to England will tell you that. (Arsenal manager) Arsene Wenger was talking about that a few months after coming and even Jose Mourinho was."

Current Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is in a battle to hand over a club with Champions League football on the agenda next season. The club are currently fourth in the Premier League table, the final qualifying spot, but are just one point ahead of West Ham and Manchester United with eight games remaining.
