Ryan Giggs promises Manchester United fans: 'The good times are coming back'

Players are sure that the club will bounce back despite difficult season

Manchester United may have had their worst season for 23 years but interim manager Ryan Giggs and striker Robin van Persie have promised that the club will bounce back next season.

Giggs, who was placed in temporary charge of United following the sacking of David Moyes last month, made a rousing speech to the Old Trafford crowd after his side’s 3-1 win over Hull City on Tuesday night vowing that the club will return to their former glory.

The Welshman, who is yet to confirm whether he’ll stay at the club next season, said after United's final home game of the season: "It has been tough this season but the good times will come back soon.

"Over the years we've been spoilt with the success we've had but you've always supported the team and the staff and I'm sure in the coming years we'll bring you more success."

Giggs’ sentiments were backed up by United centre-forward, Van Persie. The Dutchman, who scored the third goal against the Tigers in United’s last home match of the season, was all smiles in his post-match interview with MUTV.

He said: “Trust me, we’ll will be back. Trust me. Save this interview!”

It has been a tough season for players and fans alike at Old Trafford following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson last summer. The club won the league 12 months ago but look destined to finish a lowly seventh this time around.

This season of change at United has also seen a batch of unwanted records being broken, including Everton claiming their first victory at Old Trafford for 21 years, Newcastle ending their run of 41 years without a win on United’s ground and the Red Devil’s losing to a Greek team for the first time in their history were just a few of the new lows that Moyes suffered during his difficult spell in charge.

Despite these problems, United’s players seemed upbeat following their victory over Hull and will want to finish the season off with a win away to Southampton on the final day this Sunday.
