Steven Gerrard took a pop at the Chelsea fans after a draw at Stamford Bridge ended Liverpool's hopes of the Champions League.

Gerrard scored the equalising goal, cancelling out John Terry's header, and was applauded off the pitch by Jose Mourinho and the Chelsea fans.

In his last appearance as a Liverpool player at Stamford Bridge, Gerrard exorcised some of the bad memories left by his slip at Anfield last year against the same opposition, which eventually handed Manchester City the Premier League title.

However, he still received his usual barracking from the Chelsea fans, and did not hold back post-match in response.

"They (the Chelsea fans) slaughtered me all day. It's nice of them to turn up for once," Gerrard said.

Gary Lineker was among those leading the tributes after Gerrard scored for the second Premier League game in a row, following his winner against QPR last weekend.

Gerrard has two more games as a Liverpool player, before he moves to LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer.
