Swansea City manager latest: Brighton boss Oscar Garcia tops wish list to replace Michael Laudrup

Garcia's football philosophy is in keeping with Swansea's most recent managers

Oscar Garcia, the Brighton manager, heads the shortlist to replace Michael Laudrup in charge of Swansea City.

Garcia and his old Barcelona team-mate Luis Enrique are under consideration along with Graeme Jones, the Everton assistant manager, who held the same role at Swansea between 2007 and 2009.

Laudrup was dismissed on Monday night. Club captain Garry Monk has been put in temporary charge, with the team facing derby rivals Cardiff City on Saturday. Swansea insist they are in no rush to appoint a permanent successor but are thought to have compiled an early shortlist.

Swansea have already made contact with Garcia, who is in his first season in English football. His Brighton team are in ninth place in the Championship. Garcia, who played for Barcelona in the 1990s before coaching their Under-19 team, has a football philosophy in keeping with previous Swansea managers such as Roberto Martinez and Brendan Rodgers, making him a natural fit.
