The pressure had been mounting on Brendan Rodgers, but his sacking still came as a massive shock to Thierry Henry.

He and former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher were discussing Arsenal's win over Manchester United on Sky Sports when the news broke that Liverpool had taken the decision to axe their manager.

The pair were told of the development live on air, leading to a priceless reaction from the duo.

Henry's hand instinctively moved to Carragher's leg, before the concerned Frenchman turned to the former defender. Carragher then passes a bemused glare towards the camera, possibly in reaction to the news about Rodgers, possibly because of Henry.

The pair went on to express their surprise at the decision, particularly at its timing just eight games into the new season.
