Tottenham news: Christian Eriksen pens new four-year contract to keep him at Spurs until 2020
He has been linked with moves away during the summer transfer window
Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen has signed a new contract to keep him at Spurs until 2020, the club have announced.
The Dane has been in contract negotiations with Spurs since September last year and signed a deal believed to be in the region of £75,000-a-week.
The club were keen to conclude negotiations this season and not give hope to rival clubs as Eriksen would have entered the final year of his contract in the summer.
The 24-year-old had been linked with moves to Manchester United, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain in recent seasons but Eriksen said it was north London where he saw his future.
He told the club’s website: “There is a great future at this place and I wouldn’t have signed if I didn’t see that.
“It is a very good group, players who connect with each other, staff who connect with the players.
“We all have an idea of where we want to end, and hopefully we’ll achieve that.
“It’s always been the plan to sign a new deal and now it’s happened I’m relieved and very happy.”
