Tottenham vs Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp satisfied with point in post-match interview

The German coach could already see signs of his 'full-throttle football' coming to the fore

Jurgen Klopp has said he is happy to have picked up a useful point away to Tottenham Hotspur in his first game as Liverpool manager.

The former Borussia Dortmund coach, who replaced the dismissed Brendan Rodgers at Anfield during the international break, saw his new side play out a goalless draw at White Hart Lane, in which both sides spurned goalscoring oppotunities.

Liverpool's Simon Mignolet, the busier of the two goalkeepers, denied Clinton N'Jie and Harry Kane on either side of half-time while Divock Origi, in for the injured Daniel Sturridge, hit the bar with a header early on.

"I am happy with the result because I saw many good things," Klopp told BT Sport after the game.

"We were very good in the first twenty minutes, very aggressive. We were pressing and counter pressing but Tottenham are a good team. They came back into the match."

Klopp conceded his players could have shown more confidence on the ball but put that down to the excitement and tension surrounding his first game in charge.

"We had our chances, they had better chances of course, but if we play better football like we can then we will be stronger.

"We are little bit too nervous when we got the ball because the pulse was too high in this moment.

Klopp was also pleased to see some early examples of the 'full-throttle football' he has promised to bring to Anfield.

"You saw the game and there were many full-throttle moments in the game," he said. "Yes, we need to improve but for today after three days anything could've happened here and it's 0-0.

"I'm completely satisfied. It was a good first step and I can work with this."

"For today, it's OK. 0-0's not my dream result but today its OK!

The former Borussia Dortmund coach will take to the home dugout at Anfield for the first time on Thursday, when Liverpool host Russian side Rubin Kazan in the Europa League.

"I have only prepared for this game and now I have to start the preparation for Rubin Kazan," Klopp said of the occasion. "We will have to see how Rubin Kazan shape up. I know one of their players who played in Germany but I don't know the rest of the team.

"We start tomorrow, I have nothing else to do so we will be prepared on Thursday.

Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino felt that his side deserved to win the game having created more chances than Liverpool and praised Kane as the England forward looks to add to his solitary league goal so far this season.

"I think of course," Pochettino replied when asked if he felt his side should have taken all three points.

"We only concede one clear chance, from the corner where we have only 10 players on the pitch with (Nacer) Chadli injured. Then I think we had four clear chances in the first half, Mignolet saved Liverpool and I'm very happy, very pleased with the players.

"Harry was good. He had two clear chances to score - we had four chances and two from Harry.

"How many chances had Origi, not to criticise another player but you expect Harry should score every time he touches he ball but he worked a lot and there was great effort, the goal is coming."
