Liverpool football club have released a time-lapse video showing the progress made so far on the expansion of Anfield’s Main Stand.

The 30-second clip shows the first two months of work on the massive extension that is set to increase the capacity of Anfield’s Main Stand by over 8,500 seats.

So far, much of the work has been preparing the foundations for the stand that is expected to be completed ahead of the 2016-17.

The first pieces of steel – 4,800 tonnes – have also been laid where the former main car park used to stand.

When completed, the extension is set to raise the capacity of Liverpool’s main stand to 20,000, making it one of the biggest stands of its kind in Europe.

It will be twice as tall as the current Main Stand and transform Anfield into a 54,000-seater stadium.
